Brief auto-biography of the Faculty/Staff
Peninah Mumbua holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Nairobi. Upon her graduation with a BA degree she was employed by Compassion international in an integrated community project targeting needy Children, Youth and their Families and offering holistic Child Development. She was involved in youth mentorship programs, HIV/AIDS Programs, Advocacy Programs, Gender Based Violence (GBV), Talent Identification and nurturing, Income generating Activities for families and Livelihood skills for children and Youth. She also worked in a Children’s home offering Child Care and Protection and dealing with Child Adoption and Placement issues. When she finished her MA degree in Project Planning and Management she began teaching in different Universities as a Part time Lecturer in Project Planning and Management and Community Development. She also began doing Research as a Consultant for several National and International Organizations. She has done Research on Women Leadership in the Light of the New Constitution (2010), Gender Audit and Child abuse and Inclusive education surveys, Capacity Assessment for Agribusiness Youth groups, Gender Inclusion in Early Childhood Education, Development of Information Education Communication on GBV Prevention as well as carrying out training on Gender Mainstreaming in Organizations. She is currently a PHD Student at the University of Nairobi pursuing Project Planning and Management. She has her specialization in Community Development Projects. She is an Assistant Lecturer at Laikipia University teaching Community Development and other courses in the Public affairs and Environmental Studies Department.
