Dr. Nyang’ara is currently working as asenior

Lecturer at Laikipia University school of Education, Department of Psychology, Counseling & Educational Foundations where he teaches, mentors, supervises, examines students, and conducts research and consultancy with students. Besides teaching Dr. Nyang’ara is a former Director of the Directorate of Career Placement, Alumni, TVET and External Linkages, he also has the following global and national appointments; He worked as a global judge during the 2020 Global UNESCO Youth Multimedia competitions, he is the current President & chairman of Kenya Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations (KEFUCA). Dr. Nyang’ara is a trained and certified international Mediator. He diligently and gallantly served the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in various capacities both nationally and internationally, his services included the following; Psycho-social support, protection of civilians, prevention of conflicts, peace keeping.

Dr. Nyang’ara holds a PhD in Educational Psychology, M.Ed. Guidance & Counseling, Bachelor of Education (B. Ed. Arts). He has 36 years’ work experience with various organizations ranging from Kenya Defense Forces. United Nations, Private and Public sectors, Community Based Organizations, NGOs & INGOs in various African nations which includes; Malawi, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Mozambique and Tanzania. He has supervised and implemented several projects on the following themes, security, humanitarian affairs, IDPs, Child Protection, Child Labor with International Labour Organization (ILO), Gender Based Violence (GBV). Development of sector specific HIV policies, poverty reduction, Advocacy. During his tour of duty to United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone Dr. Nyang’ara supported various peace-keeping initiatives with the warring factions in Sierra Leone through negotiation, disarmament, Demobilization and Re-integration of the ex-combatants. He received a UN award for his resilience in initiating and implementing exemplary programs during the UN peace-keeping Mission in Sierra Leone under the umbrella of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) 2003.

Dr. Nyang’ara’s exemplary performance has been recognized and rewarded both locally and internationally; he was awarded along service and good conduct medal by the Kenya Defence Forces, a warded a UN medal for initiating successful relevant programs during the peacekeeping Mission in Sierra Leone. Dr. Nyang’ara has practical experience with many communities in Africa and around the world, has high level discipline, integrity and training. His exemplary service during the UN peace-keeping Mission to Sierra Leone testifies that he is an accomplished and talented professional, honest, reliable with a lot to offer granted an opportunity. Many of the organizations, universities, governments who have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Nyang’ara have reported both orally and in writing that he is a self-motivated and a self- driven personality, with good writing and communication skills and also a pleasure to work with. He blends his work experience in the area of psychology, experience, research and consultancy with several communities in Africa coupled with academic exposure to effectively perform his work. Dr. Nyang’ara has significant professional experience under his fingertips.
