Laikipia University Successfully Hosts the 12th Health Week

Laikipia University successfully held its 12th Annual Health Week from 6th–7th May 2026, bringing together healthcare professionals, partner institutions, staff, students, and members of the community in a collaborative effort to promote wellness and preventive healthcare.

Organized by the University Medical Department, this year’s Health Week was guided by the theme: “Preventing Non-Communicable Diseases, Managing Mental Health and Promoting Reproductive Health.” The programme focused on raising awareness on critical health issues affecting society today while encouraging healthy lifestyles and early health-seeking behaviour.

The initiative reaffirmed the University’s commitment to preventive healthcare, mental wellness, community outreach, and the promotion of accessible health services. Through health talks, medical screenings, counselling sessions, and wellness engagements, participants were empowered with knowledge and practical support aimed at improving overall quality of life.

The Health Week also served as an important platform for early detection of health conditions, helping reduce health risks through timely intervention and promoting long-term wellbeing among staff, students, and the surrounding community.

Laikipia University appreciated the support and collaboration of various institutions and healthcare providers who partnered in making the event successful. Special recognition was extended to the County Government of Laikipia and St. Martin Catholic Social Apostolate for their continued partnership and commitment to community health initiatives.

The University also acknowledged participating healthcare institutions including Bloom Hospital Nakuru, Nakuru Specialist Hospital, Charity Medical Hospital, Pearl Hospital, Pope Benedict Catholic Hospital, Scanlab, JoyEllen Hospital, and Equity Afya for offering medical services and health support during the programme.

Further appreciation was extended to financial partners Egerton SACCO and Equity Bank for supporting the initiative and contributing towards the success of the Health Week.

As the University continues to champion holistic wellbeing, the Annual Health Week remains a key platform for fostering a healthier, informed, and empowered University community.
