Laikipia University Hosts a Vibrant Alumni Open Day and Customer Service Week Celebration

Laikipia University came alive with excitement and celebration during the Alumni Open Day 2025, an event that coincided with the close of Customer Service Week. The day was marked by vibrant activities, valuable partnerships, and a strong show of community spirit.

The event was graciously sponsored and supported by Laikipia University Alumni, Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital (Loresho), Golden Life Victors, CIC Group, Old Mutual Foundation, Regional Blood Transfusion Nakuru, and IC Global, under the leadership of Dr. Joe Lenai, Director, Primary Health Care Kenya. Their contributions made the day both impactful and memorable.

A highlight of the day was the financial literacy training conducted by the Old Mutual Investment Group, where participants gained valuable insights into financial management and investment opportunities. The session empowered staff, students, and alumni with practical skills for financial growth and sustainability.

In addition, the Laikipia University Alumni Association held an interactive capacity-building session to sensitize participants on the benefits of alumni membership, the association’s ongoing initiatives, and how alumni can remain connected to the University and contribute to its development.

The team of sponsors and alumni later paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, and Student Affairs), Prof. John Kanjogu, who also officially opened the day’s activities. In his remarks, Prof. Kanjogu applauded the alumni and partners for their continued engagement and contribution to the University’s growth.

“We deeply appreciate our alumni and partners for their commitment to the growth of Laikipia University,” said Prof. Kanjogu. “Their contributions and mentorship play a vital role in enriching our students’ learning experiences and strengthening our institutional linkages.”

Speaking on behalf of the organizing team, the Director of Corporate Affairs, CS. Roselyne Mulefu, thanked all sponsors, partners, staff, and students who made the event successful.

“This day showcased the true spirit of collaboration and service that defines our University. As we mark the close of Customer Service Week, we celebrate every hand, heart, and mind that helps Laikipia University thrive,” she noted.

The Directorate of Corporate Affairs also extended special appreciation to the Catering and Halls Department for their outstanding service throughout the week.

As the University marked the close of Customer Service Week, the spirit of teamwork, service excellence, and community engagement shone brightly — a true reflection of Laikipia University’s motto: Education for Value and Self-Reliance.
