Laikipia University Holds Pre-Retirement Training for Staff

Laikipia University conducted a two-day 16th – 17th March 2026 pre-retirement training for members of staff preparing to transition into retirement. The training, organized by the Office of the Registrar, Administration and Human Capital, was held at Breeze Hotel in Nyahururu and provided a supportive platform to guide participants through this important stage of life.

The programme focused on equipping staff with practical knowledge and insights on financial planning, health and wellness, emotional preparedness, and opportunities for continued personal growth beyond active service. It also created space for reflection, experience sharing, and open discussion on life after formal employment.

In his remarks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Patience Mshenga, underscored the importance of early and thoughtful preparation for retirement. He encouraged participants to embrace the transition positively, noting that retirement marks not an end, but the beginning of a new and meaningful chapter.

Registrar, Administration and Human Capital, Dr. Hezron Nyamwega, highlighted the University’s commitment to supporting its staff throughout their career lifecycle, including the transition into retirement. He emphasized the value of such trainings in empowering staff to make informed decisions and approach retirement with confidence and dignity.

The training reflects Laikipia University’s continued dedication to the welfare of its staff, recognizing their invaluable contribution and ensuring they are well prepared for life beyond their years of service.
