Laikipia University Grant Proposal Writing Training

Laikipia University held a Grant Proposal Writing Workshop at Mandela Hall on 10th June, 2024. The training was launched by Prof. Charles Nguta, Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Research, and Student Affairs (ARSA), on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. In his remarks, Prof. Nguta highlighted the importance of having a clear research theme to guide the university's research efforts. He emphasized on how research is critical in driving innovation and development. The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in discussions and hands-on exercises to refine their proposal writing skills. This training is expected to have a lasting impact on the research capabilities of Laikipia University's staff and students, ultimately spearheading the university's Vision and Mission.

The event was facilitated by a team of research experts; Dr. Miriam Charimbu, a visiting scientist at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMY), Kenya and Postdoctoral Fellow at Michigan State University, Dr. Sarah Roelker, an educationist and teacher trainer, Dr. Nicholas Odongo, Ph.D, a Research Fellow supporting Science Technology Innovation Knowledge and Society (STIKS) programme at African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and Mr. Simon Maina from St. Martin CSA, Nyahururu. The training was well attended by Laikipia University academic and administrative staff.
