Laikipia County Secondary Schools Career Mentorship

Directorate of TVET, Career Placement, Alumni and External Linkages held a Mega Career Mentorship for Secondary Schools within Laikipia County on 15th September, 2023 at Vision 2030 Hall. The Career Mentorship was also extended to Principals, Teachers and Career Masters at Mandela Hall.

The event was spearheaded by Director TVET, Career Placement, Alumni and External Linkages Dr. Naftali Nyangara and the Coordinator TVET Dr. Alexander Mbeke. Also in attendance were, Registrar Academic Affairs (AA), Prof. Robert Mwebi Registrar Administration and Human Capital (AHC) Dr. Hezron Nyagaka, Nyahururu Sub County Director of Education, KUCCPS representatives, Deans from the School of Humanities and Development Studies, School of Science, School of Education, and the School of Business and Economics.

The forum was well attended by students and teachers from more than ten Secondary Schools within Laikipia County including: Njonjo Girls High School, Njorwa, Ndabibi, Wiyumiririe, Ndabibi, Naiboi Mixed Secondary School, Ngobit Boys’ Secondary School, Kiwanja Day Secondary School, Igwamiti, Shamanei, Inoro and Ngobit Girls’ Secondary Schools.

The teachers had a session at Mandela Hall and had a brief with the Registrar, Directors and Deans from various schools within the University. Thereafter they joined students at Vision 2030. The students were taken through the requirements for various courses within the four Schools and given specific subjects needed for each course for students’ preferred Programme.

The students had interactive sessions with Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) Mentors, Laikipia University Travelling Theatre members as they entertained them through moving performances. The students also had a chance to showcase their talents.
