Laikipia University TVET Conducts CBET Training for its Tutors

Laikipia University TVET successfully conducted a training session for its tutors on the implementation of the Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum on February 11th and 12th, 2025. The forum, held at the School of Education Boardroom, was organized by Dr. Alexander Mbeke, TVET Coordinator, and was officially opened by Dr. Naftal Nyang'ara, Director of TVET, Career Placement, Alumni, and External Linkages.

In his remarks, Dr. Nyang'ara emphasized the importance of effectively delivering the newly developed CBET curriculum content to Laikipia University TVET trainees.

Dr. Mbeke highlighted the importance of Competence Based Education Training (CBET) which basically focuses on trainees' knowledge, skills and attitude. He noted the key principles of CBET as reflective teaching, industry alignment, clear measurable learning outcomes, assessment of learning outcomes and relevant learning.

The trainees gained valuable insights into the implementation of the CBET curriculum and the importance of professional documentation during their training and teaching, including the learning plan, session plan, training aids, occupational standards, and individual curriculum.

The CBET training aligns with the University’s Vision to “Nurture and Transform for the World.”
