CBC Training for University Academic Staff

A Competency Based Curriculum Training for Academic Staff was held on 5th May, 2023 at Mandela Hall. The training was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor Proff Kibett Rotich and was conducted by Prof. Fredrick Ngala from Kabarak University. In attendance was the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor - Academic Research and Student Affairs, Dean of Schools, Directors, Chairs of Department and lecturers. The main aim of the training was to acquaint the staff on how the CBC for University Education works. It touched on key areas in its execution, major difference between Knowledge Based Curriculum (KBC) - the current curriculum and the Competency Based Curriculum, Core Competencies for basic Education and Implications of Basic Education Curriculum Framework (BECF). Flexibility with earlier career placement, emphasis on values and guiding principles were among the importance of CBC. The University is looking forward to put in place all measures that will ensure, with time CBC is inculcated in the Curriculum.
