Message from the Director

The aspiration of the Directorate of Planning and Performance Management is to mainstream planning and performance management systems across all university operations, functions, and processes. This department steers the institution toward milestones commensurate with our progressive stature, ensuring timely preparation, evaluation, and strategic monitoring of Performance Contracts in tight coordination with national government agencies.

Through successful council contract negotiations, strategic planning cycles, and Rapid Results Initiatives, the university relies on the collective efforts of staff, students, and stakeholders to translate goals into absolute institutional realities.

In the latest national evaluation framework released by the Public Service Performance Management and Monitoring Unit (Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary), Laikipia University achieved an improved ranking reflecting a "Very Good Performance" status.

Target Outlook: The Directorate is firmly optimizing current operational workflows to boost our competitive ranking trajectory from "Very Good" to "Excellent" for upcoming target intervals.

Core Responsibilities & Mandate

  1. Develop and regularly review the university performance framework aligned with national indicators, standards, and appraisal weights.

  2. Coordinate drafting of University Council performance metrics and prepare formal performance agreements.

  3. Oversee cross-departmental implementation of performance contracting and annual work plans.

  4. Compile, systematically process, and process structural quarterly and annual university reports.

  5. Monitor statutory state directives and report compliance status variables directly to specific parent Ministries and Agencies.

  6. Coordinate the structural evolution, ongoing updates, and structural audits of the general University Strategic Plan, Master Plans, and auxiliary policies.

  7. Prepare data-driven Bi-annual Rolling Plans tracking the overall vision milestones.

  8. Supervise tracking and regular assessment metrics for the University Customer Service Charter.

  9. Mainstream values relating directly to National Cohesion, Disability awareness, and environmental directives within university networks.

  10. Execute specialized monitoring analytics as designated by executive administrative organs.
