The Chancellor's Office
The Chancellor serves as the titular head of the University, playing a pivotal role in representing its core values and aspirations both nationally and globally.
Appointing Authority & Tenure
- Statutory Governance: Appointed by the President under Section 38 of the Universities Act, the Second Schedule to the Act, and the Laikipia University Charter.
- Term of Office: Holds office for a term of five (5) years, with eligibility for re-appointment for one further term under Section 38 (2) of the Act.
- Constitutional Compliance: Nominees must demonstrate exceptional moral character and uncompromised integrity, strictly adhering to Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Academic Accolades: The conferment of Degrees and the award of Diplomas, Certificates, and any other honors of the University.
- Institutional Governance: Recommending to the Cabinet Secretary, from time to time, a formal visitation of the University.
- Strategic Advisory: Advising the Council periodically on matters the Chancellor considers essential for the continuous betterment of the University.
