Financial Aid & Student Funding
Laikipia University is firmly committed to supporting students facing financial hardships and those hailing from marginalized regions. Through a mix of internal institutional initiatives and external funding collaborations, the university provides several pathways to ease the burden of educational costs.
A

Eligibility & Application Criteria:
Fee Payment: Submission of a current fee statement proving at least a 60% semester payment.
Loan Documentation: Official HELB loan disbursement status verification paperwork.
Orphan Status: Valid documentary proof, such as parental death certificates where applicable.
Identification: A copy of the Letter of Offer for first-year students, or a valid Student ID for continuing students.
Alternative Declarations: Disclosure of other active funding channels like scholarships, external grants, or the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Socio-Economic Background: Holistic review of the student's background and parental financial resources.
Special Circumstances: Prioritization is extended to students with special needs or those facing sudden, unexpected shifts in personal circumstances.
Exclusions: Students with outstanding fee balances are not considered. Self-sponsored students, individuals with ongoing disciplinary actions, or those sitting for supplementary examinations are strictly ineligible.
B
Bursaries & Scholarships
Financial support through structured bursaries and scholarships targets vulnerable students struggling to balance academic costs and standard living fees.
Internal Aid Schemes:
Prominent External Sponsors:
* Note: External selection criteria are set dynamically by the respective sponsors. General requirements typically require applicants to have a disadvantaged financial background, be government-sponsored, and outline coherent educational and career roadmaps.
C
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Support
The University coordinates focused consultation, support, and direct procedural assistance regarding HELB operations. Please note that HELB opportunities specifically benefit government-sponsored undergraduate students. To ensure smooth financial pipelines, the Student Affairs office maintains a direct collaborative channel with the HELB Head Office.
📅 Bi-Annual HELB Matters Day
Organized at least once per semester, this platform invites regional HELB officers directly onto campus to maximize student awareness and transparency. During these sessions, dedicated rooms are opened where students can bring forward their loan complaints, account discrepancies, or payment questions. Routine consultative matters are resolved immediately on-site, while intricate files are logged systematically for administrative follow-ups with subsequent verification updates shared directly with the student.
