At Laikipia University, we believe in educating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. The University Chaplaincy plays a central role in this mission by offering a dedicated space for spiritual nourishment, personal reflection, and moral growth. Led by the University Chaplain, the Chaplaincy serves as a welcoming home for students and staff from all backgrounds, providing guidance, fellowship, counselling, and opportunities for meaningful engagement. Rooted in compassion and respect for diversity, it supports the spiritual wellness of our community and contributes to shaping individuals of integrity, purpose, and strong character.

 Our Mission: Fostering Whole Individuals

The core mission of the Chaplaincy is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment were individuals can grow into well-rounded, principled human beings. We strive to complement the university’s academic mission by shaping graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also accountable, sensitive to justice, and committed to transparency in all their endeavors. We believe that spiritual and moral formation is integral to producing leaders who will make a positive impact on society.

A Unifying Community of Faith

The Chaplaincy serves as a unifying body for the university’s diverse religious community. We proudly support and coordinate four primary recognized religious groups, ensuring that every member of our community has a place for worship and fellowship.

These groups are:

  •  The Muslim Community
  • The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church
  • The Christian Union (CU)

The Catholic Action Together, they form a vibrant tapestry of faith, contributing to the rich spiritual life on campus.

The Chaplaincy gathers these communities, fostering mutual respect and a shared commitment to spiritual principles that benefit the individual and the entire university. Our Services and Activities To achieve its mission, the Chaplaincy is actively involved in a range of spiritual and pastoral activities designed to support and uplift the university community.

Our key functions include:

  • Spiritual and Moral Development: We provide dedicated services and programs for the spiritual, moral, and character development of both staff and students.
  • Community Worship and Prayer: We conduct regular worship services for the various faith groups and lead prayers during major university activities and ceremonies.
  • Inter-Faith Engagement: We foster unity and understanding by organizing bi-annual inter- faith prayer days that bring the entire university community together in reflection and fellowship.
  • Pastoral Care and Guidance: We offer confidential general support, counseling, and guidance, helping individuals navigate personal challenges while drawing attention to the spiritual values within their respective faith traditions.
  • Coordination of Religious Life: The Chaplaincy serves as the central hub for coordinating all religious activities on campus, ensuring a harmonious and vibrant spiritual environment.
