Message from the Dean

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the School of Humanities and Development Studies. The school has a vibrant and dynamic community of faculty members dedicated to fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and social responsibility skills among its current students and alumni. We offer a diverse range of programmes designed to inspire and nurture the next generation of leaders and problem solvers in the fields of Humanities and Development Studies.

We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to meet the diverse interests and career aspirations of our students. The School currently boasts of the highest number of postgraduate students who come from Kenya and beyond. Our programmes are carefully crafted to provide a comprehensive understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and political factors that shape human societies and development processes. All our programmes have been approved by the Commission for University Education.

The school has distinguished faculty members, scholars and practitioners who are actively engaged in cutting-edge research and scholarship. They bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the classroom, ensuring that the students receive high-quality education that is both intellectually rigorous and relevant to real-world challenges. In total, the School has 34 committed staff members.
