Laikipia University today witnessed the official handover of the office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research and Student Affairs) as Prof. Guyo Sarr Huka, Associate Professor of Business Management (Human Resource Development), assumed office.
A seasoned scholar, researcher, mentor, coach, and transformative leader, Prof. Guyo brings extensive experience in learning and development, people empowerment, and progressive human capital development.
He takes over from Prof. John Kanjogu, who assumes the substantive position of the Director Research Human Rights and Gender. He served diligently in an acting capacity since January 2025. During the ceremony, Prof. Kanjogu thanked the University Council for the trust bestowed upon him and expressed appreciation to the University Management and staff within the Academic Division for their support during his tenure. He highlighted key achievements realized during the period and warmly welcomed Prof. Guyo to the University leadership team.
In his remarks, Prof. Guyo thanked the University Council and Management for the opportunity to serve and appreciated staff for the warm reception accorded to him. He emphasized the need to foster a strong institutional culture that promotes excellence, unity, and improved service delivery. He further noted that universities must remain responsive to ongoing higher education reforms, including funding changes and the evolving global higher education landscape that demands new competencies and innovative approaches.
Prof. Guyo expressed his delight at returning to Laikipia University, where his distinguished academic journey began, and affirmed his commitment to leveraging his vast experience to advance the University's academic, research, and student affairs agenda.
The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Human Capital), Prof. Patience Mshenga, Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Mr. Francis Wanjama, Registrar (Administration and Human Capital), Dr. Hezron Nyamwega, Deans of Schools, Directors, and staff.
