Message from the Chief Hospitality Officer

The Catering Department is a service business unit which supports other services offered in Laikipia University. We are mandated to provide quality catering services to the entire university community (students and employees) and external clientele.

We offer delicious, nutritious, and balanced meals that are hygienically and professionally prepared. Furthermore, the meals are sold at affordable buying prices pegged on standard market indices to support student wellbeing.

Pay As You Eat (PAYE) System

The department operates on a cashless Pay As You EAT (PAYE) system. Customers make secure payments to the cashier before food service through official e-Citizen transaction platforms.

Statutory Mandates

  • Efficiently coordinate, prepare, and serve nutritious student meals.
  • Coordinate procurement, professional preparation, and safe storage of catering inventory.
  • Sustain high food quality indicators at heavily subsidized student pricing.
  • Manage and audit all kitchens, restaurants, and snack bars under the University's jurisdiction.

Rules and Regulations in the Restaurants

1. Do not enter any catering or dining units dressed in active sports wear, night gowns, or pyjamas.
2. Misuse or willful destruction of property is strictly forbidden. Destructive parties will be held wholly responsible.
3. Moving crockery or cutlery requires written clearance from the Chief Hospitality Officer. Unauthorized possession incurs a flat Ksh. 500.00 fine per item.
4. Entering the kitchens or pantries is forbidden without official authorization, with exceptions granted only to work-study kitchen staff.
5. Bringing externally prepared or cooked food items into the university dining spaces is forbidden.
6. Please respect and strictly adhere to the designated opening, closing, and meal times.
