The Medical Department is managed by an integrated, highly focused health team comprising one medical doctor assisted by other highly qualified and experienced health professionals and support staff. We operate with a collective goal to cultivate a healthy campus environment that directly powers the academic and structural milestones of Laikipia University.
Conveniently located on campus, University Medical Services are available to all students and staff. Our accredited facility is structured to address both primary health care and critical emergency needs with absolute efficiency and uncompromised professional standards.

Student Services Guidelines
Medical services are provided on a 24-hour basis. Students who feel unwell can access medical care right within the university grounds. However, students are strongly advised to seek regular consultations between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays. Only emergency cases are handled at night or during the weekends to allow optimal utility of triage units.
Important Notice on Referrals
Guardians, parents, or students cater for all treatment costs upon referral to external facilities for specialized care. The office of the Dean of Students coordinates with the Medical Department during such instances. Additionally, patients with predetermined chronic conditions co-pay for specialized pharmaceutical products.

Staff & Faculty Services
- University staff and their certified dependents access free consultation services on campus.
- Surgical dressings, basic laboratory checks, pharmacy dispensaries, and specialized nursing procedures are offered at subsidized rates.
- Advanced ambulance services remain available for all emergency cases referred to specialized hospitals.
- The medical facility provides official medical certificates and pre-employment clearances at heavily subsidized rates.
Mandatory Guidelines
- Prior authorization from the medical officer is mandatory for all elective referrals or secondary hospital admissions.
- Staff must present their official University Staff ID card or employment number to access the services.
