Academic Qualifications and Work Experience
Prof. Kibett Rotich is a highly accomplished academic leader and biostatistics expert with an extensive background in higher education administration, research, and global health. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Shanghai University of Science and Technology, a Master of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Postdoctoral degree in Medical Informatics from Indiana University (USA), a Master of Science in Statistics from the University of Southampton (UK), and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Rotich currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Laikipia University, where he oversees institutional governance, strategic planning, and academic development. He also serves as the Secretary to the Council and to the following Council Committees: Finance, Investment and General Purposes; Human Resource Management; and Academic and Research.
His previous leadership roles include Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology; Deputy Principal (Academic and Student Affairs) at Rongo University College; and Acting Principal at both Garissa University College and Kabianga Campus. He was also Dean of the School of Public Health and Professor of Biostatistics at Moi University.
Prof. Rotich possesses extensive experience in international health and data science, having worked as a Statistician at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Entebbe, Uganda, and as a Consultant Biostatistician for the Academic Model for Providing Access to Health Care (AMPATH).
His interdisciplinary expertise and administrative acumen continue to drive Laikipia University’s growth and contribution to national and global development through research, innovation, and academic excellence.
