Laikipia University has welcomed a team from the Office of the Auditor-General conducting the annual In-Year Systems Compliance Audit aimed at assessing the lawfulness, accountability, and effective use of public resources within the institution.
The audit team, led by Mr. Zadock Koech, was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kibett Rotich, during an opening meeting attended by members of the University Management Board and Heads of Departments.
In his remarks, Prof. Rotich welcomed the audit team and reaffirmed the University's commitment to transparency, accountability, good governance, and prudent management of public resources. He emphasized the importance of audits in strengthening institutional systems, enhancing service delivery, and promoting continuous improvement. The Vice-Chancellor also assured the team of the University's full cooperation throughout the exercise.
Mr. Koech noted that the audit is part of the Office of the Auditor-General's annual mandate to review systems and processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and public sector financial management requirements.
The audit exercise will be coordinated by the University's Chief Internal Auditor, CPA Abdallah Mambo Dallu, who will work closely with the audit team and relevant departments to facilitate the review process.
The engagement reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to accountability, transparency, and the effective stewardship of public resources. Through constructive collaboration and professional engagement, the audit is expected to provide valuable insights that will further strengthen the University's systems and operations.
