VC pays Courtesy Call to Botswana High Commissioner in Nairobi

On 17/11/20, the Vice Chancellor Prof Kibett Rotich visited the H.E.G Duke Lefhoko, the High Commissioner, Botswana High Commission in Nairobi together with Dr. B.K Chacha, Coordinator, Directorate of External Linkages and Human Rights with a purpose of doing a follow-up of the agreement made during the previous visit of the High Commissioner to the university and to deliver university memoranda and request for the partnership with Botswana institutions of higher learning. 

The VC informed the ambassador that Laikipia University appreciated the role that the Government has continued to play in the development of this country.  He thanked the ambassador for the previous visits to the university  and stated that such  initiative are part of  an on-going programme that engages students in solving problems within their nation and International communities as an integral part of their academic studies by making meaningful connections between what they study and its real-life applications. 

On the other hand, the High Commissioner congratulated Laikipia University for the long relationship it has established with the High Commission spanning three former envoys and informed us that this is a commitment no any other institution has done in Kenya.  He informed the VC that fronted by Botswana include agriculture, leather, manufacturing, beef processing and packaging, agro-processing. He informed that the Botswana farmers have great interest in Borana cattle breeds and artificial insemination services

They both agreed that the High Commissioner will assist the university to get collaborations in Botswana Universities and arrange a possible exchange between Botswana farmers and Laikipia County to be pursued by the commission’s Counsellor III Mr. Tirahalo Sekao and that Laikipia University would be the commission’s venue for Botswana national celebrations.
