Agripreneurship Cohort 2 Trainees Closing Programme Ceremony

Laikipia University in collaboration with Agripreneurship Alliance of Switzerland conducted Cohort 2 Agripreneurship and Business plan training programme for 24 students of Laikipia University selected competitively, for 10 weeks starting from September 20th 2019 to December 2019. Learning was through the AMI platform provided by African Management Initiative. The training was facilitated by Dr. John King’au, Dr. S. Achimba and Dr. Florence Opondo through the School of Business.

Participants of the 12 week training programme were awarded Certificates of Completion at a closing ceremony presided over by Prof. Isaac Ochieng (DVC- AF&P) on behalf of Vice Chancellor and graced by Dean Business School on 28th held at Catering Unit - LU Main Campus.

The programme culminated in Business Plans Competion which were peer-reviewed by the team from Switzerland in 2019. Nine teams pitched their business plans and the winner was selected by the panelists. The Uzima Organic Farm won the Business Plan Competition and was awarded a prize of USD 1,000 (Kes 100,000) and 12 months mentorship for their business startup.

Prof. Isaac Ochieng – Deputy Vice Chancellor (AF&D), Laikipia University and Steve Carr– Agripreneurship Alliance (through Virtual Link) congratulated the winners and wished them well as they actualize their business plan.

The Cohort 3 Training is due to start in November 2020 through a virtual approach.
